Keeping track of your research deadlines just got easier with ResearchDock. Any task that is assigned to you and has a due date can now be synced directly into the calendar you already use, whether that’s Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple’s iCal.

This means you can see upcoming tasks just by checking your normal schedule, without switching tools or logging in to ResearchDock every time. Here’s how to set it up.

Step 1: Get Your ResearchDock Calendar URL

  1. On your Homepage, press Connect in My Tasks.
    connect_cal
  2. Click Create Calendar.
  3. Copy the ResearchDock calendar URL provided to you.

Step 2: Add to Google Calendar

  1. Go to Google Calendar.
  2. On the left panel, click the + next to Other calendars.
  3. Select From URL.
  4. Paste in your ResearchDock calendar URL and click Add calendar.

Your tasks will now appear as events in your Google Calendar. They will update automatically as tasks change.

Step 3: Add to Outlook Calendar

Open Outlook Calendar on the web (on the Desktop app this is tricky).

  1. Click Add calendar on the left sidebar.
  2. Select Subscribe from web.
  3. Paste the ResearchDock calendar URL.
  4. Enter a calendar name, like “ResearchDock Tasks”.
  5. Click Import.

Your ResearchDock tasks will appear alongside your other Outlook events, with automatic updates as tasks are assigned or modified. Note that there is often a delay in the Sync between ResearchDock and Outlook when compared with Google and Apple calendars.

Step 4: Add to Apple Calendar (iCal)

  1. Open the Calendar app on your Mac.
  2. In the top menu, go to File > New Calendar Subscription.
  3. Paste the calendar URL from ResearchDock and click Subscribe.
  4. In the pop-up that appears, you can name the calendar and choose a color.
  5. Under Auto-refresh, choose how often you want iCal to check for updates (e.g. every hour).
  6. Click OK.

Your ResearchDock tasks will now appear in your Apple Calendar, and will refresh according to the interval you set.

One Calendar, All Your Deadlines

Whether you're juggling paper deadlines, meetings, or lab work, your tasks are now integrated with your day-to-day calendar. You no longer need to switch tabs or remember to check ResearchDock and you can always turn this calendar on or off in your calendar app if you want to temporarily hide it.

Note: ResearchDock gives you a single calendar that is unique to you. Tasks across all projects will be visible in the calendar as long as the task is assigned to you and has a due date.
