TL;DR

  • Active project limits: Core (5), Pro (10), Premium (Unlimited)
  • Archiving: Keeps content accessible & downloadable, but cannot be edited
  • Collaborator-specific archiving: You can archive a project for yourself without affecting others
  • Owner control: Only owners can archive a project for everyone
  • Deletion: Rare, to protect collaborators’ data

How It Works and Why We Designed It This Way

ResearchDock’s archiving system lets you free up active project slots while keeping past work accessible and downloadable but not editable. Archiving can be done individually or by the project owner for everyone, and projects cannot easily be deleted to protect collaborators’ valuable data.

Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Active Project Limits by Plan

Your active project slots depend on your subscription:

  • Core – Up to 5 active projects
  • Pro – Up to 10 active projects
  • Premium – Unlimited active projects

When you hit your active project limit, you can archive older projects to make space for new ones.

What Happens When You Archive a Project?

Archiving a project:

  • Freezes the project for you so it can’t be modified
  • Keeps it downloadable and viewable for reference
  • Doesn’t delete any content and you can always re-activate the project later

Archiving ensures your work remains accessible without taking up an active project slot.

Personal Archiving vs. Global Archiving

In ResearchDock, archiving is user-specific unless done by the project owner.

  • If you archive a project for yourself:

    • You can no longer edit it
    • Collaborators who still have it active can continue editing
  • If the project owner archives it for everyone:

    • The project becomes read-only for all collaborators

This gives teams flexibility while preventing unwanted deletion of data.

Why We Don’t Make Deletion Easy

We value the work stored in your projects—not just yours, but also your collaborators’. That’s why even project owners can’t instantly delete projects.

If a project is deleted, it could remove critical data others rely on. Our approach ensures that deletion only happens when it’s truly intended and with safeguards in place. This means projects can only be deleted if all collaborators have left the project.

In Summary

Our archiving system is designed to balance flexibility, data safety, and team collaboration. Whether you’re working on a short-term study or a long-term research project, you’ll always have control over your workspace without risking the loss of important contributions from others.
